Blackhawks 5, Oilers 1
- Updated: February 12, 2017
Just over four minutes into the game, Connor McDavid took the puck from Niklas Hjalmarsson and got it to Patrick Maroon, who put it past Scott Darling to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead. Then the Blackhawks got the next five. Richard Panik tied the game 5:49 into the first. Patrick Kane gave the Hawks the lead 4:05 later on a power play. The Hawks avoided a second-period letdown and expanded their lead. First, Trevor van Riemsdyk scored 8:37 in. Then, just under ten minutes later on a power play, Richard Panik netted his second of the night. Laurent Brossoit replaced Cam Talbot in the Edmonton net for the third period, but things remained the same. Artem Anisimov would tack one more on in the later stages of the period.
A few things
- Scott Darling battled through some early rust to turn in a very nice performance.
- The Hawks go into their “bye week” on a 5-game winning streak with things starting to click. Hanging on to that momentum will be key coming out of the break, as teams have struggled after that time off.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Scott Darling, G, CHI (30 SV, 1 GA)
★★ Richard Panik, W, CHI (2 G, 1 A)
★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (1 G (GWG), 2 A)
