Oilers 3, Blackhawks 1
- Updated: February 18, 2017
The Blackhawks played great hockey coming out of their bye, but unfortunately, Cam Talbot played better. The Hawks controlled the action for 60 minutes, but a lucky bounce and a Milan Lucic goal were more than enough support for Talbot. Corey Crawford made some excellent saves, but Lucic just beat him five hole on a shot that he had a clear look at. That can’t happen. Richard Panik got one for Chicago and they had some good looks after pulling Crawford for the extra skater, but they couldn’t come up with the equalizer.
A few things
- The Hawks left Gustav Forsling and Vinnie Hinostroza in Rockford. Forsling needs to play, Hinostroza wasn’t setting the world on fire before the break, but this still seems more like the Hawks keeping some cap space open to potentially bring in some help at the deadline. I’ve heard Patrick Sharp‘s name come up; for the right price, I’m in.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, C, EDM (1 A)
★★ Milan Lucic, LW, EDM (1 G (GWG))
★ Cam Talbot, G, EDM (38 SV, 1 GA)
