Duncan Keith was out serving a suspension (he got six games total), but still, the Blackhawks defense has got to be better than it was in this one. Darling needs to step up a bit, but that’s the meanest thing I’m going to say about him here, because he got very little help here. Actually, “very little” may be giving the defense too much credit. The good news, though, is that the offense woke up. They scored on the power play, got good chances, and found the back of the net four times total in regulation. Kane and Panarin were back to doing Kane and Panarin things, which is always an encouraging sign. Weise had his best game as a Blackhawk. Fix the defense and this team is starting to look ready to make a run.

My picks for 3 stars:

★★★ Blake Wheeler, RW, WPG (2 G, 1 A)

★★ Brent Seabrook, D, CHI (1 G (GWG), 1 A)

★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (2 G (GTG), 2 A)
