The Blackhawks got off to a very sloppy start, falling behind 4-0 before beginning to put it together late in the second. The Hawks got one in that period and scored early in the third to make it a game. They then proceeded to give up the next two goals to fall behind by 4 again. Nick Schmaltz cut it to three with just under two-and-a-half minutes to play, but the Hawks couldn’t get one in the remaining time, much less 3.
