Hawks – Red Wings Recap

Hawks – Blues Recap

Hawks – Stars Recap

The Blackhawks went 1-1-1 on the week, defeating the Red Wings at home, then losing in a shootout in St. Louis and in a blowout in Dallas.

Notes

Forwards: Tomas Fleischmann had a very nice week. Hopefully, the Hawks will be able to bring him back after the season. The rest of the team looked great in Detroit and then a lot less great the rest of the week. Marian Hossa returned in Dallas. He had a nice showing, but no points. The penalty kill has been really bad. Hossa coming back should help some, and Kruger’s return will help more, but those two aren’t cure-alls. The issues there need to be fixed and fixed quickly.

Defensemen: Okay, I’m actually starting to get a little worried. Remember when I said that the Hawks had three great defensemen in Keith, Seabrook, and Hjalmarsson, another good one in TvR, and thus just needed two of Rozsival, Ehrhoff, Svdeberg, and Gustafsson to step up? Well, Rozsival’s been playing well, but Svedberg hasn’t been playing, and the other two have been just okay. And Seabrook has played better.

Goalies: Crawford started all three games because of course he did. He had a great showing against Detroit and was very good in St. Louis up until the shootout. In Dallas, he was just okay. He let four in in a period-and-a-half of work, but none were really his fault. Darling played well in relief. Play Darling more. Don’t run Crawford into the ground.

Blackhawks 3 stars of the week:

★★★ Michal Rozsival, D (3 A)

★★ Artemi Panarin, LW (1 G, 2 A)

★ Tomas Fleischmann, LW (1 G, 1 A)
