The Blackhawks seemed to have control the game early, with Andrew Ladd finding the back of the net. Then Andrew Desjardins missed a wide open net and not long after, the Blues tied the game. Then it got worse for the Hawks, with the Blues scoring two more, including one by Tarasenko that Crawford needed to do better on. The second period was all Hawks, though. The team scored three to take a 4-3 lead into the third. The Blues controlled the action in the third, but good defense and good goaltending maintained the Hawks lead until they were able to expand it on a late power play. Hossa added an empty-netter and the Hawks forced game 7.
Richard Panik had an excellent game, playing mostly with Toews and Kane. Ladd and Weise turned in very nice performances as well. Rundblad didn’t screw anything up. It seems like a safe bet that he’ll be in for game 7.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (2 A)
★★ Dale Weise, W, CHI (1 G (GWG))
★ Richard Panik, W, CHI (1 A)
