CFB Picks: 2022 Week 2
- Updated: September 8, 2022
Last week: 1-3, Season: 1-3
Lines for this week’s CFB picks are from FanDuel and will continue to be until a sportsbook wants to give us money to plug them. FanDuel isn’t giving us any money, but we used DraftKings last year and they didn’t give us any money, either, so now it’s FanDuel’s turn. Really, you should shop around for the best lines and prices. We’re using FanDuel here for the sake of consistency.
USC -7.5 at Stanford
This was 10.5 and it’s been falling. I’m not totally sure why. I’m a big believer in Lincoln Riley and what he’s building at USC. The Trojans were one of my preseason playoff picks. The road there rolls through Palo Alto without any speed bumps.
Florida -5.5 vs. Kentucky
Florida just took down a good Utah team and Anthony Richardson made a strong argument to be QB1 come April. The Gators are in danger of a letdown after a big week one win, but that stadium’s going to be rocking fans excited at the prospect of a Florida that’s really back. Billy Napier’s building some great down in the swamp and it continues with a win over a Kentucky team I’m really not high on.
Iowa State +3.5 at Iowa
Am I overreacting to week 1? Maybe. But both teams played FCS teams. One demonstrated an ability to move the ball in multiple ways. The other’s best offensive player was their punter. I wasn’t high on Iowa going into the season. I’m even less high on them after I watched them score three offensive points against an FCS team.
Mississippi State -11.5 at Arizona
This line is moving towards Mississippi State, but it’s still nowhere near the S&P+ projected differential of 22.3. I’m riding with Bill C. here.
Wisconsin -17.5 vs. Washington State
This is another big discrepancy between Vegas and Bill Connelly. S&P+ has the Badgers as 24-point favorites. There are some other big discrepancies, but this one’s a small enough number that I don’t you have to worry about starters coming out late and costing you a cover.
