We’re Going Streaking! – Your Weekly Blackhawks Recap
- Updated: January 13, 2016
(Week of 1/3 – 1/9)
The Hawks went 4-0 on the week, shutting out the Senators at home, then beating the Penguins on the road in OT, then in regulation at home, and finishing the week off with a home win over Buffalo.
Notes
Forwards: Panarin had two excellent games against the Penguins. The top line of Shaw, Toews, and Hossa played well. Phillip Danault has looked good thus far, centering Desjardins and Teräväinen. That line has been solid for the Hawks.
Defensemen: Gustafsson continues to look good. Duncan Keith had a very nice week. Rundblad was loaned to a team in Sweden. Steve Rosenbloom from the Trib asked if this is a situation like when your neighbor borrows your weed whacker and doesn’t give it back. It’s not. The weed whacker is useful to you and you hope your neighbor returns it.
Goalies: Crawford was Good Corey. At this point, I’ve started talking about him the way I talked about Nate Robinson when he was with the Bulls. Crawford’s a bit more consistent than Robinson was, but I think it still works. Crawford has been called an All-Star snub, and, I mean, I guess you can say that, but the guy that really got snubbed was Jake Allen. As for the other goalie spot on the team, Crawford and Dubnyk is a toss-up to me. I, personally, will give the tie to the Blackhawk, but Dubnyk has been very good as well and is certainly deserving of the roster spot. Pekka Rinne, though? Not so much. The Blackhawks own tall goalie, Scott Darling, had a fine outing at home against the Penguins. *pats self on back for segue*
Blackhawks 3 stars of the week:
★★★ Duncan Keith, D (1 G (1 GWG), 3 A)
★★ Corey Crawford, G (.967 SV%, 0.98 GAA)
★ Artemi Panarin, LW (4 G (2 GWG))
